Former Black Stars captain Asamoah Gyan has expressed strong support for former Ghana Football Association (GFA) President Kwesi Nyantakyi, alleging that his removal was a result of sabotage by individuals with self-serving agendas.
In an Instagram Live session, Gyan criticized the current state of Ghanaian football, stating that it has declined significantly since Nyantakyi’s departure.
He praised Nyantakyi’s leadership, highlighting his achievements, including his position as CAF Vice President, and his commitment to the development of Ghanaian football.
Gyan argued that Nyantakyi’s refusal to entertain “selfish interests” within the football fraternity led to his downfall.
He contended that individuals who opposed Nyantakyi’s leadership prioritized their own agendas over the advancement of the sport.
Nyantakyi served as GFA President from 2005 to 2018. His removal followed a corruption scandal that shook Ghanaian football.
Gyan’s comments have reignited debate about Nyantakyi’s legacy and the current state of Ghanaian football.
