Asante Kotoko has announced a complete suspension of all football activities in Ghana until justice is served for the tragic death of club supporter Nana Pooley.

The decision follows the violent incident during a match against Nsoatreman FC, where Pooley was fatally stabbed.

In a statement released on Tuesday, the club emphasized that this issue goes beyond Kotoko and affects the integrity of Ghanaian football as a whole.

They vowed to take a stand and not resume football operations until the perpetrators are arrested and prosecuted.

The club is also calling for solidarity from other football teams, including their rivals Accra Hearts of Oak, urging them to join the fight against violence in the sport.

Asante Kotoko confirmed its attendance at the Ghana Football Association’s meeting on Thursday, hoping to turn this tragic moment into a catalyst for change in Ghanaian football.

“We are determined to end the cycle of violence, hooliganism, and lawlessness that threatens the soul of our game,” the statement read.

While mourning the loss, Kotoko expressed appreciation to the swift actions of the Inspector General of Police, Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, and the Bono Regional Police Commander, COP Lydia Donkor, in investigating the case.

The club confirmed that three suspects have been arrested and expressed confidence that authorities will continue working to bring all involved to justice.

Asante Kotoko pledged full cooperation with the authorities to ensure those responsible face the full force of the law.
