A new tracking poll by Global InfoAnalytics suggests that Johnson Asiedu Nketia, Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), could narrowly defeat former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia in a potential 2028 presidential race.
The poll shows Asiedu Nketia with 50% support from likely voters, while Dr. Bawumia, the New Patriotic Party (NPP)’s 2024 presidential candidate, trails slightly with 45%. The remaining 5% of respondents indicated they would prefer an alternative candidate.
These findings point to a tight and competitive race between the two political figures should they both contest in 2028. Asiedu Nketia’s slight edge reflects growing political interest in his potential candidacy, while Bawumia remains a strong contender following his performance in the 2024 elections.
Global InfoAnalytics noted that the slim margin underscores the possibility of a fiercely contested election, with both major parties already showing signs of early positioning ahead of the next electoral cycle.
