George Agyei Frempong, the Assemblyman for the Oguaa electoral area in New Juaben South municipality, tragically died from electrocution on Saturday afternoon.
The incident occurred while Agyei Frempong, believed to be in his late thirties, was attempting to fix a streetlight in his electoral area.
Eyewitnesses reported that he fell from the electricity pole after receiving a shock, as he was not a trained electrician.
Local residents who witnessed the incident quickly rushed him to the Eastern Regional Hospital, but he succumbed to his injuries shortly after arrival.
Agyei Frempong, a skilled carpenter, was elected as the assembly member for Oguaa during the last district assembly elections.
