Luke Walford, a beloved youth pastor from the Cathedral of Praise church in Rockhampton, Queensland, Australia, tragically died after a shark attack while spearfishing with his family.
Emergency services responded to reports of a critical injury and found Walford suffering from a severe bite wound to the neck. Despite their efforts, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Walford was known for his passion for God and his dedication to the youth at his church. Tributes poured in from friends and family, remembering him as a kind and inspiring young man.
“This was a young man who loved people, who loved God,” said Claude Fingleton, pastor of Cathedral of Praise. “He was greatly loved.”
The incident serves as a sad reminder of the dangers of spearfishing in shark-inhabited waters.
