Barcelona’s lead at the top of La Liga was threatened after they were held to a 2-2 draw by Celta Vigo in a dramatic finish, following a late red card for Marc Casado.
The match started well for Barcelona, with captain Raphinha opening the scoring in the 16th minute. The former Leeds United winger, who has now scored 13 goals in all competitions this season, made a powerful run into the box before finishing with confidence.
Celta Vigo pushed hard throughout the match, with Iago Aspas notably going down in the box just before halftime under a challenge from Gerard Martin, who had already been booked.
Despite strong appeals for a penalty, the referee waved it away, and Aspas was shown a yellow card for protesting the decision.
Barcelona looked to have secured the win when Raphinha, who had earlier hit the post, turned provider for Robert Lewandowski. The Polish striker scored his 15th La Liga goal of the season to make it 2-0.
However, the match took a dramatic twist in the 82nd minute when Marc Casado was sent off for a second yellow card. Just two minutes later, Alfon Gonzalez pulled one back for Celta Vigo, and in the 86th minute, Hugo Alvarez struck to level the score at 2-2.
With the draw, Barcelona’s lead could be reduced to four points if Real Madrid wins against Leganes on Sunday.
