Activist and legal practitioner, Oliver Barker-Vormawor, has been called to appear before the Appointments Committee of Parliament on Wednesday, January 29, 2025, following his accusations of bribery against committee members.

Barker-Vormawor claimed that some committee members had been accepting bribes from ministerial nominees before their vetting sessions.

He further challenged the committee’s chair, Bernard Ahiafor, to submit himself for an oral examination. In response, Ahiafor vehemently denied the allegations, dismissing them as baseless.

Ahiafor then instructed the Clerk of Parliament to formally invite Barker-Vormawor to present evidence supporting his accusations before the committee.

Meanwhile, the minority side of the committee has called for the vetting of Dr. Omane Boamah, the Defence Minister-designate, to be postponed until the bribery allegations against the chairman and other committee members are fully addressed.
