Two individuals have been killed in Bawku following separate attacks by unknown gunmen at different locations.

One of the victims, Moro Aziz, a man with mental health issues from the Gozesi area of Bawku, was found dead near the Bawku cemetery after wandering into the area.

The second victim, Kasim, was killed in Daduri, another suburb of Bawku, while attempting to move to a different location.

These latest killings bring the total death toll in the region to 35 since violence erupted anew in late October 2024.

Although a dawn-to-dusk curfew has been imposed in the area, tensions remain high. The violence traces back to November 2021, when ethnic clashes began following the installation of a rival chief.

Although the violence subsided through 2023, it flared up again on October 25, 2024, when the rival chief, Alhaji Seidu Abagre, was reinstated by Nayir.
