Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the flagbearer for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has dismissed allegations that his presidency would lead to Fulani herdsmen damaging farmlands, calling these claims propaganda from the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
While campaigning in Ejura Sekyedumase on November 13, 2024, Dr. Bawumia accused the opposition of instilling fear by suggesting that voting for him would encourage lawlessness among the Fulbe people, who are his in-laws.
He assured constituents that, under his leadership, Ghana’s laws would be applied fairly to all citizens, regardless of their background. “The NDC is spreading propaganda that my administration will allow Fulanis to destroy farmlands, but that will never happen. We will not permit it,” he stated.
Dr. Bawumia emphasized that the law would hold everyone accountable. “If anyone is caught damaging farmlands, they will be arrested. We are committed to bringing development with benefits to the community. Give me the power, and you will see the positive changes.”
