Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has highlighted the critical role of a well-functioning land administration system in supporting Ghana’s economic development, social cohesion, and investment.
At the inauguration of the new Lands Commission Head Office in Accra on November 25, Dr. Bawumia addressed the challenges that the new facility aims to resolve, including excessive reliance on manual records, the cumbersome movement of files between offices, and congestion within the Commission.
He reiterated his commitment to enhancing the land administration system, focusing on three primary areas: modern infrastructure, digitalization, and the automation of business processes.
“This new building showcases the government’s commitment to effective land management, paving the way for a more efficient, transparent, and customer-oriented land administration system in Ghana,” he said.
Dr. Bawumia pointed out that the Lands Commission has long been dependent on manual records, requiring staff to transport files between offices, which can lead to inefficiencies. “As I’ve previously mentioned, we cannot move forward without tackling these issues. The completion of the new headquarters is a significant milestone in this regard,” he added.
He stressed that the government has been dedicated to building a robust land administration framework for the past eight years, centered on modern office facilities, digital solutions, and streamlined processes.
“The opening of this state-of-the-art facility is a major step forward in our mission to establish a more efficient, transparent, and customer-centric land administration system in Ghana,” concluded Dr. Bawumia.
