A 16-year-old boy, the son of Bishop Elisha Salifu Amoako, Founder and General Overseer of Alive Chapel International, has been sentenced to six months at a senior correctional facility following a deadly crash in East Legon.
The incident, which occurred while he was driving a Jaguar F-Pace Sport, resulted in the tragic deaths of two preteens.
The teenager pleaded guilty to eight charges, including two counts of manslaughter, after it was revealed that he had been speeding in an attempt to show off the vehicle’s capabilities. Prosecutors stated that the crash occurred when he lost control of the car and collided with another vehicle.
Initially pleading not guilty, the teenager eventually admitted to his involvement in the fatal accident, which led to his sentencing. Prior to the trial, he had been held at the Osu Correctional Centre.
The incident has also led to legal action against his parents, Bishop Salifu Amoako and his wife, Mouha Amoako, as well as Linda Bonsu Prempeh, who allegedly provided the car keys. They face charges of permitting an unlicensed minor to drive, although all have pleaded not guilty.
This case has sparked significant public debate about parental responsibility and the dangers of underage driving, shedding light on the tragic consequences of reckless driving.
