Ghana’s Black Princesses face a must-win situation after a disappointing 1-2 defeat to Austria in their opening match at the 2024 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup.
Head coach Yussif Basigi acknowledged the pressure facing his team, stating that a win or draw against Austria would have provided a significant boost.
However, with the loss, Ghana must now secure maximum points in their remaining group stage matches.
The Black Princesses will next face Japan on Thursday, September 5, followed by a clash with New Zealand.
To advance to the knockout stage for the first time, they must finish in the top two of Group E or as one of the best third-place teams.
