Chadian security forces successfully repelled an attack on the presidential complex in the capital, N’Djamena, on Wednesday.
The assault, carried out by a group of armed men, resulted in the deaths of 18 assailants and one member of the security forces.
The attack occurred while Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi was visiting the country. Wang had met with President Mahamat Idriss Deby earlier that day.
President Deby was present at the presidential complex during the attack.
The Chadian government has condemned the attack and vowed to maintain security in the country.
