PRESS STATEMENT
Kpando, Ghana – August 7, 2025
The Akpini State, under the leadership of Okpekpewuokpe Togbui Dagadu IX, Akpinifia, has received with deep sorrow the tragic news of the untimely death of Honourable Dr. Edward Kofi Omane Boamah, Minister for Defence, along with seven others who perished in a helicopter crash while on national duty.
This heartbreaking incident has plunged not only the nation into mourning but has also deeply affected the people of Akpini. Togbui Dagadu IX fondly recalls his recent visit to the Honourable Minister’s office, during which they discussed matters of mutual interest to both the Ministry of Defence and the people of Kpando. The Minister welcomed the King with warmth and respect, and demonstrated a genuine commitment to strengthening civil-military relations in the Volta Region.
The Honourable Dr. Omane Boamah was a distinguished statesman, a consummate professional, and a devoted public servant. His humility, foresight, and unwavering dedication to the peace, unity, and security of Ghana were widely admired. His loss is not only a national tragedy, but also a personal one for the Akpini State.
