A shocking scandal has unfolded in Ghana as a couple from Mallam Kokroko alleges that their newborn triplets were stolen from two prominent hospitals.
Hilda Ninson and Patrick Gyasi, the parents of the triplets, claim that their babies were taken from them while receiving treatment at Akawe Government Hospital and Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital.
The couple recounts a series of suspicious events surrounding the births and subsequent deaths of their children.
According to Hilda, she gave birth to the triplets at Akawe Hospital on August 3, 2024. Due to a lack of incubators, the babies were transferred to Korle-Bu’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) the following day.
While Patrick was away purchasing medicines, hospital staff informed him that one of the babies had died.
However, he claims that the body shown to him did not match the appearance of the other two surviving babies.
Hours later, Patrick was sent to buy more medicines, and upon his return, he was told that a second baby had also passed away.
On August 5, 2024, the couple received a call from Korle-Bu’s NICU informing them that the third triplet had died.
Suspecting foul play, Hilda and Patrick allege that a Social Welfare worker at Akawe Hospital had asked them to give one of the babies away.
Patrick also claims to have overheard a hospital staff member discussing selling the babies due to the couple’s poverty.
The couple is demanding a thorough investigation into the alleged theft and suspicious deaths of their triplets.
They believe that the bodies shown to them were much older than their newborn babies.
Both Akawe Government Hospital and Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital have confirmed the couple’s births and transfers but have denied any involvement in the alleged theft.
However, the couple’s allegations have raised serious concerns about the safety and security of newborns in Ghanaian hospitals.
