Police in Awutu Bereku have arrested a couple for allegedly chaining and abandoning their nine-year-old son in a bush at Gomoa Nkwantanan.
The motive is still under investigation, but sources suggest the boy was punished for alleged stubbornness.
James Mensah, a resident who rescued the child, found him chained and abandoned without food for two days. He reported the incident to the police, leading to the arrest of the parents, Bismark Odoi, 35, and Saviour Arthur, 33, who had initially gone into hiding.
The boy stated that he was punished for being late to school. His father reportedly chained his leg and left him in the bush for two days, tied to a tree.
Police are continuing their investigation into this case of alleged child abuse.
