A tragic road accident at New Ayaase in the Adansi-Fomena District has claimed the lives of eight people, following a collision involving a Sprinter van, a long-distance bus, and a Toyota Corolla on the afternoon of Tuesday, April 22, 2025.
The incident occurred when a Sprinter bus traveling from Kumasi to Fosu attempted a risky overtaking maneuver. While trying to overtake a Toyota Corolla that was heading toward Fomena, the Sprinter collided head-on with an oncoming bus from Kumasi. The force of the crash caused the Corolla to veer off the road uncontrollably.
According to eyewitness reports, including a statement from Isaac Adjei, Assembly Member for the Fomena East Electoral Area, the collision was so intense that the Sprinter van split into two, with one half somersaulting off the road.
