President Nana Akufo-Addo has reaffirmed Ghana’s unwavering commitment to free and fair elections, stating that this essential right is “non-negotiable.”

During the passing-out ceremony for the Short Service Commission and Special Intake at the Ghana Military Academy, the President highlighted the critical need for peace and stability as the country approaches the December 7 general elections.

“No political ambition will compromise the peace and stability we have worked hard to achieve,” he emphasized.

He urged security agencies to uphold the highest standards of professionalism and impartiality throughout the electoral process, expressing confidence that Ghana’s democracy would endure despite the current electoral climate.

“In two weeks, Ghana will again demonstrate its democratic maturity by holding free and fair elections,” President Akufo-Addo remarked. He called on security forces to fulfill their duties with integrity, ensuring the safety of all citizens.

Reiterating his commitment to democratic principles, he said, “The right to free and fair elections is non-negotiable, and I am dedicated to ensuring that the will of the people is respected in every election.”

As he prepares to leave office, the President emphasized his resolve to protect Ghana’s peace and democratic institutions. “The peace of Ghana is a sacred trust. As I transition from office, I will do so with full respect for our democratic processes, safeguarding our future.”

Additionally, President Akufo-Addo addressed his administration’s initiatives to strengthen national security, including the establishment of military bases nationwide. “The security landscape is dynamic and often unpredictable,” he noted.

He outlined the complex challenges facing the nation, such as environmental degradation from illegal mining and the encroaching threat of terrorism from the Sahel region. “Our armed forces must remain vigilant, adaptable, and ready to tackle these evolving threats decisively,” he concluded, reaffirming his government’s commitment to expanding military presence across all 16 regions of Ghana.
