The Electoral Commission (EC) says it is extending the days for the submission of nomination forms by presidential aspirants.
According to the commission, the move is to prevent the disqualification of aspirants by allowing them to address challenges they had with their nomination forms before they were put on the ballot papers.
Samuel Tettey, the Deputy Commissioner in charge of Operations at the EC made this known at the National Peace Council’s stakeholder forum.
“We are extending the days of nomination so that if there are certain challenges on the nomination forms of a particular candidate, we would be able to resolve that before we put them on the ballot papers,” he stated.
Mr Tettey further reiterated that the EC was ensuring that the electoral processes were transparent from beginning to end.
