The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, has called on Ghanaians to help identify individuals who may attempt to disrupt the peace during the upcoming elections on December 7.
Speaking to members of the Assemblies of God Church in Accra on Sunday, Dr. Dampare highlighted the vital role of community engagement in maintaining law and order. He emphasized that public vigilance is crucial for protecting the nation’s stability.
“We may not be able to reach everyone, and there may be a few individuals who think they can disturb the peace of this country. If you hear or see something concerning in your community, we urge you to speak up. Allow yourself to be a vessel of God by helping us identify these individuals so we can ensure they are appropriately managed,” he stated.
He also noted, “Currently, our police cells and prisons have capacity. We want to proactively address potential threats and maintain peace during the election period and beyond.”
Dr. Dampare’s message underscores the police’s commitment to a peaceful electoral process and the importance of collaboration between law enforcement and the community to identify and address potential issues. By working together, they aim to ensure that the elections proceed smoothly and without incident.
