A 25-year-old man, Emmanuel Agyekum, is currently receiving treatment at the Abirem Government Hospital after suffering serious injuries in a violent family dispute in Akyem Maamaso, located in the Birim North Municipality of the Eastern Region.

The altercation reportedly arose from a disagreement over an uncompleted house left behind by Emmanuel’s late father. Tensions escalated when Emmanuel began work on completing the property, sparking resentment among some relatives.

According to reports, the situation worsened after Emmanuel refused to meet with his aunt to discuss the matter, leading to a heated verbal exchange. Not long after, two individuals believed to be his cousins allegedly ambushed and attacked him with machetes, causing severe injuries—most notably to his hand.

The suspects fled the scene and are currently on the run. Police have launched an investigation and are working to locate the assailants.

Emmanuel’s mother, Selina Amoah, expressed shock and sorrow over the attack, urging the police to ensure those responsible are held accountable.

“This is a family issue that should never have come to this. I just want justice for my son,” she said.

Authorities continue to investigate as the community reels from the incident.
