A devastating road accident at Poyentanga, Upper West Region, has resulted in the deaths of eight individuals, including a one-and-a-half-year-old child.

The vehicle, traveling from Chiripong to Techiman, was heavily loaded and veered off course while attempting to avoid a pothole.

The vehicle overturned, causing immediate fatalities among eight of the 17 passengers.

Several others were injured, with some suffering severe limb losses.

Emergency services arrived promptly to assist the wounded and transport them to the hospital, while the deceased were taken to the mortuary.

The scene was described as grisly, with significant bloodshed and a profound impact on the local community.

The accident has left residents in shock, particularly due to the involvement of a young child.
