A self-contained house has been consumed by an inferno at Ohwimasi Hilltop, a plush-looking neighbourhood in Kumasi.
The fire started around 9pm and traveled at lightning speed, burning everything that was on its path in the house.
What caused the inferno was not immediately known. It took the timely intervention of firefighters before the blaze was brought under control.
According to the Abuakwa Divisional Police, they rushed to the fire scene immediately they received information that there was a fire outbreak.
“About 2100hrs, information was received from Regional Control Room that, a self-contained house had been gutted by fire at Ohwimasi Hilltop.
“Denchemuoso District and Suntreso patrol teams arrived at the scene for protection,” the police sitrep, which the paper has sighted, disclosed.
It said two Fire Thunders from Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) and Twedie also arrived at the scene to put the inferno under control.
“The Ghana National Fire Service Team managed to contain the fire and bring it under control at 0120 hours,” part of the report disclosed.
It added that, “Properties worth several thousands of Ghana cedis were consumed by the fire. The cause of fire is unknown, no casualty was recorded.”
The report said the tenants were advised to report at the station to assist in investigations, adding, “The Police would liaise with the GNFS for the fire report.”
