A late-night fire has destroyed the studios of Pure FM, one of Kumasi’s leading radio stations, forcing it off air indefinitely. The blaze, which broke out on Wednesday night, caused significant damage to broadcast equipment but no injuries were reported.

Fire Believed to Have Started from Air Conditioner

In an interview, Kwame Adinkra, Morning Show host and Business Manager of Pure FM, confirmed the incident. He explained that the fire was first detected by the station’s night DJ, who noticed smoke emanating from the studio’s air conditioner moments before flames rapidly spread through the room.

“The fire started in the air conditioning unit and quickly engulfed the studio before help could arrive,” Adinkra said.

Emergency Response and Ongoing Investigation

Emergency responders battled the fire for over three hours before finally bringing it under control. The cause of the fire has not been officially determined, and investigations are ongoing to establish the circumstances behind the incident.

Temporary Shutdown Confirmed

Pure FM, which operates under the Angel Broadcasting Network (ABN), has confirmed a temporary shutdown of its operations as the station assesses the full extent of the damage.

ABN is one of Ghana’s prominent media houses, with several radio and TV outlets across the country.
