Kwabena Adu-Boahene, the former head of the National Signals Bureau (NSB), has been rearrested shortly after completing a seven-day court-ordered remand linked to a previous charge.

He remains in police custody as investigations deepen into multiple allegations.

Adu-Boahene was initially remanded on May 2, 2025, over accusations of attempting to interfere with a witness in a case involving charges of theft, money laundering, and causing financial loss to the state.

However, during court proceedings on Tuesday, May 13, his legal counsel, Samuel Atta Akyea, informed the court that his client had been rearrested in connection with a separate and ongoing investigation. While specific details of this new probe remain undisclosed, the Attorney General had earlier confirmed an inquiry involving internet connectivity contracts at Ghana Water Limited.

In the primary case concerning the alleged misappropriation of GH¢49.1 million, the court has set May 26 for a case management conference. The prosecution has reportedly submitted all witness statements and is expected to furnish the defense with copies by May 20.

The case continues to draw public and media attention due to its scale and the involvement of a high-ranking former intelligence official. Authorities have not ruled out additional charges as investigations continue.
