Former President John Agyekum Kufuor has extended his condolences to President John Dramani Mahama and First Lady Lordina Mahama following the tragic military helicopter crash that claimed multiple lives.
In a visit to the Jubilee House, Mr. Kufuor expressed his sympathy and solidarity during this period of national mourning. The gesture has been widely acknowledged as one of statesmanship and unity at a time of deep national sorrow.
He was received by Vice President Prof. Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang and other senior government officials, who thanked the former president for his heartfelt show of support.
The tragedy occurred on Wednesday, August 6, when a Ghana Armed Forces Z-9 military helicopter crashed at Adansi Akrofrom in the Ashanti Region after going off radar. The crash resulted in the deaths of all on board.
Among the victims were Defence Minister Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, Environment Minister Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed, Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator Muniru Mohammed, former parliamentary candidate Samuel Aboagye, and NDC Vice Chairman Samuel Sarpong.
Three military personnel—Squadron Leader Peter Bafemi Anala, Flying Officer Manin Twum-Ampadu, and Sergeant Ernest Addo Mensah—also lost their lives in the crash. There were no survivors.
The nation continues to mourn the loss of these distinguished individuals.
