The government is set to convene today, January 13, to address the ongoing food shortages in some Senior High Schools (SHS), according to Clement Apaak, Member of Parliament for Builsa South.

This comes after the Conference of Heads of Assisted Secondary Schools (CHASS) advised parents to provide food supplies for their children due to challenges in securing adequate provisions.

In an interview with Citi News, Apaak confirmed that the feeding issues in SHS have caught the attention of the government, and a meeting is scheduled to find solutions.

He acknowledged that the current food shortages are a result of mismanagement under the previous Akufo-Addo-Bawumia administration but emphasized the government’s commitment to resolving the issue.

“The government is aware of the food challenges facing our secondary schools, and in particular, the Chief of Staff is focused on addressing the problem,” Apaak said. “While this issue is partly due to the challenges inherited from the previous government, we are working hard to resolve it.”

Apaak further assured that the John Dramani Mahama-led government is dedicated to sustaining and improving the Free Senior High School programme.

The Chief of Staff is expected to meet with CHASS leadership, along with the Ministry of Education and the Ghana Education Service, to find a swift resolution to the feeding challenges.
