President John Dramani Mahama has announced the immediate termination of fuel allowances and fuel allocations for all political appointees, as part of ongoing efforts to curb government spending and enforce greater fiscal discipline.

The decision was detailed in a statement issued Tuesday, July 15, by Minister for Government Communications and Presidential Spokesperson, Felix Kwakye Ofosu.

The directive forms part of the Mahama administration’s broader Reset Agenda, which aims to redirect public resources toward critical sectors and essential development projects.

“The President believes that leadership must also bear its part of the sacrifices it is calling on the people to make,” the statement read.

This move follows a series of earlier austerity measures, including a reduction in the size of government, fewer ministerial appointments, and the suspension of satellite television subscriptions for the Presidency and other state offices.
