The Ghana Education Service (GES) has reiterated that the 2024/25 academic calendar will proceed as planned, with Senior High Schools (SHS) set to reopen on January 3, 2025.

In a statement issued on January 2, 2025, the GES clarified that SHS students are expected to return to school on January 3, while Primary and Junior High Schools (JHS) will reopen on January 8, 2025.

This announcement follows calls from the Conference of Heads of Assisted Secondary Schools (CHASS), which urged the Ministry of Education to address financial challenges faced by second-cycle institutions.

CHASS had warned that unresolved financial issues could disrupt the reopening process and called for a delay to the January 3 reopening for SHS students.

Despite these concerns, the GES confirmed that the reopening dates for all levels of education would remain unchanged.

The Service emphasized that the academic calendar will continue as originally scheduled and urged students, staff, parents, and the public to adhere to the announced dates.
