The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has taken a strong stance against unauthorized betting on its matches.
They have reported several betting companies – Betway, Soccabet, Sportybet, Football.com, and Ilobet – to the Gaming Commission of Ghana for offering odds on GFA-sanctioned matches without proper authorization.
This unauthorized use of GFA match data is a violation of the Association’s legal rights and regulations. The GFA emphasizes the dangers unauthorized betting poses to the integrity of the game and its reputation.
This action follows a stern warning issued by GFA President Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku during the 30th convocation of Congress.
He declared that no company has been authorized to offer odds on Ghana Premier League (GPL) matches and that legal action will be taken against those who continue to do so.
The GFA is open to collaborating with betting companies, but only under the condition that they comply with the necessary regulations.
This ensures a transparent and controlled environment for both fans and the sport itself.
