The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has announced an ambitious plan to invest over GHS 3 million in providing footballs to clubs across all divisions for the upcoming season, starting in September.
Building on last season’s initiative, this effort aims to enhance club development and alleviate financial burdens associated with equipment costs.
At the 30th Ordinary Congress, held at the Ghanaian Soccer Center of Excellence, GFA President Kurt Okraku unveiled a new partnership with FIFA, committing $100,000 to acquire footballs for grassroots programs.
Okraku emphasized the vital role of footballs in the sport, stating, “Football is all about balls… our strategic plan to collaborate with FIFA for grassroots football development will be repeated.”
Additionally, the GFA will invest a further $100,000 in colt clubs, targeting the development of young players.
This funding aims to provide essential resources and tools for emerging talent to flourish in their formative stages.
The Congress, which commenced on August 26, is a pivotal event for shaping the direction of the new season.
Decisions and resolutions made during this gathering are expected to have a lasting impact on the structure and support of Ghanaian football.
