Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has asserted that Ghana would benefit significantly from the NPP staying in power.

He emphasised that the party has developed a range of policies designed to enhance the quality of life for Ghanaians and support business growth.

According to Dr. Bawumia, these initiatives are aimed at improving the overall well-being of the populace and fostering economic development.

While campaigning at the Kaneshie market in the Okaikoi South, Dr. Bawumia outlined his vision for Ghana’s future, highlighting the introduction of a flat tax policy in cedis, applicable to all goods, and a tax amnesty to prevent confusion with the Ghana Revenue Authority.

He also emphasised the party’s commitment to supporting small businesses and women traders through the establishment of an SME bank and women’s trade empowerment fund.

Additionally, Dr. Bawumia announced plans to remove import duty on mobile phones, extend driving licence validity to 10 years, and abolish the e-levy. He further promised to train the youth in digital skills.

Dr. Bawumia urged voters to endorse him as Ghana’s next president, emphasising that his opponent, former President John Dramani Mahama, would not be accountable due to his limited four-year term.

In contrast, Dr. Bawumia promised to be accountable to Ghanaians if elected.

He said, “We are introducing a new directive to reform the import regime at the Port, including a flat tax policy in cedis, applicable to all goods, making Ghana’s import duty comparable to or lower than Togo’s. We are also launching a women’s bank, an SME bank dedicated to supporting women traders with financial assistance for their businesses.

“Additionally, we are introducing a tax amnesty to avoid confusion with the Ghana Revenue Authority and eliminating import duty on mobile phones.”

“Furthermore, we will extend the validity of driving licences to 10 years, abolish the e-levy, and provide digital skills training for the youth. If you vote for former President John Dramani Mahama, he will only be accountable for four years. However, if you vote for me, I will have the opportunity to be accountable to you for a longer period.”
