Diaspora Patriots in Ghana (DPG), a group in the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has congratulated Dr Matthew Opoku-Prempeh (Napo) on his nomination as running mate of Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, presidential candidate of the NPP for the 7 December 2024 general elections.
The DPG in a congratulatory letter to Napo and signed by its chairman, Hayford Attah Krufi, said they write to extend their heartfelt congratulations to Napo on being selected as the running mate to Dr Bawumia.
“This is a significant milestone and a testament to your unwavering commitment to public service, strong leadership, and dedication to the betterment of our nation.
“Your exceptional track record in the educational sector and your remarkable contributions through various roles have undeniably showcased your ability to drive positive change.
“The combination of your expertise, vision, and passion for development complements Dr. Bawumia’s strengths and this promise a bright and prosperous future for our country,” the DPG letter read .
“Being chosen for such a pivotal role is both a high honour and a great responsibility. We have the fullest confidence that with your profound knowledge, steadfast integrity, and collaborative spirit, you will excel in advancing our shared aspirations for a more prosperous and equitable society.

We are inspired by your achievements, and we are confident that your journey ahead will be filled with success and meaningful contributions to our country,” Hayford Attah Krufi’s letter further read.
Dr Matthew Opoku-Prempeh currently serves as Minister for Energy and he is the NPP sitting member of Parliament for Manhyia South constituency in the Ashanti Region.
His nomination as running mate to Dr Mahamudu Bawumia was confirmed by the second highest decision making body of the NPP, the National Council, on Thursday, 4 July 2024.
Napo will be officially outdoored to the larger NPP and to the Ghanaian electorate on Tuesday, 9 July 2024 at the Jubilee Park in Kumasi, the Ashanti Region Capital.
