The Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod) has officially commenced nationwide enforcement of the mandatory use of GoldBod receipts by all licensed gold buyers in the country, as part of a broader effort to strengthen transparency and accountability in Ghana’s gold trading sector.
According to a statement issued by Prince Kwame Minkah, Media Relations Officer at GoldBod, the initiative requires that all licensed aggregators, self-financed aggregators, and Tier 1 and Tier 2 buyers issue official GoldBod receipts for every gold purchase transaction. This applies to all small-scale gold mining and trading activities conducted across the country.
“The issuance of GoldBod receipts is not optional — it is a compulsory requirement and a critical condition for the validity of all transactions,” the statement emphasized.
To ensure strict compliance, the GoldBod Taskforce and Field Inspectors have been deployed nationwide. All licensed buyers are expected to present their receipt booklets for inspection and cooperate fully with the field teams.
GoldBod is also encouraging licensed small-scale miners and gold traders to demand GoldBod receipts for every purchase they make with licensed buyers, reinforcing the need for accountability at every level of the value chain.
The Board warned that failure to issue receipts is a serious offence and could lead to severe penalties, including the suspension or revocation of a buyer’s license.

“Together, we can strengthen the sector for the benefit of all stakeholders,” Minkah concluded.
