Felix Kwakye Ofosu

The government has reassured the public that it has secured enough fuel to ensure stable power generation, dismissing concerns about a return to widespread power outages (“dumsor”).

Minister of State for Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, addressed a press briefing on Thursday, February 20, 2025, acknowledging recent intermittent power cuts but emphasizing that the government is taking steps to maintain a reliable energy supply.

He stated that Energy Minister John Jinapor is actively monitoring the situation and will soon provide updates to the public.

Ofosu asserted that the government has successfully addressed the fuel supply challenges inherited from the previous administration, including the closure of the West Africa Gas Pipeline.

“The government has brought an adequate supply of fuel,” Ofosu declared. He acknowledged the importance of regular communication with the public on energy matters, saying, “But it is important from time to time to engage the public and address the concerns that they may have when it comes to the power situation.”
