The Conference of Heads of Assisted Senior High Schools (CHASS) has announced that the government will release funds to cover feeding costs for senior high school students for the next 31 days.

This emergency measure comes in response to widespread food shortages experienced by SHSs across the country.

CHASS General Secretary Primus Baro revealed that the government, following a meeting with education stakeholders, has decided to provide emergency funding while they work on a long-term solution to the recurring food supply challenges.

“It was for 31 days as instructed by the president,” Baro stated. “This will allow schools to mobilize food locally to address the situation quickly.”

The government is also working to expedite the delivery of food supplies from warehouses at Tema Port, which were initially intended for drought victims in the northern part of the country.

Baro emphasized the need for a comprehensive solution to the ongoing challenges facing senior high schools. He noted that the Chief of Staff, Julius Debrah, has committed to convening a wider executive education forum to address these issues comprehensively.

“Feeding and funding for schools cannot be delayed further,” Baro stressed.
