In a disturbing incident, a vehicle traveling from Kulungugu to Bawku township came under attack from unidentified gunmen. Despite being escorted by military personnel, the vehicle was ambushed, resulting in intense gunfire.
While no casualties have been reported at this time, the incident underscores the ongoing security challenges in the Bawku area. The region has experienced intermittent violence despite numerous attempts to restore peace, including the enforcement of a strict dawn-to-dusk curfew.
President John Mahama recently visited Bawku and Nalerigu on Tuesday, January 16th, as part of ongoing efforts to address the conflict and find lasting solutions for the affected communities.
