Manchester City striker Erling Haaland will undergo specialist assessment on an ankle injury sustained during Sunday’s FA Cup victory over Bournemouth.

Despite leaving the stadium on crutches and in a protective boot, the club anticipates the Norwegian will play again before the season’s end.

Haaland, who scored City’s equalizer before being substituted in the 61st minute of the 2-1 win, underwent initial tests on Monday. The club stated they expect the 24-year-old, who has 30 goals this season, to be fit for the remainder of the campaign, including the FIFA Club World Cup this summer.

While Haaland missed a penalty and other opportunities against Bournemouth, his goal sparked City’s comeback to reach the FA Cup semi-finals. The FA Cup now represents City’s sole remaining chance for silverware this season, following setbacks in the Premier League, Champions League, and Carabao Cup.

Manager Pep Guardiola has faced numerous injury concerns to key players throughout a challenging season, which sees City currently fifth in the Premier League, just one point behind the Champions League qualification spots. The specialist’s assessment will determine the full extent of Haaland’s injury and his timeline for return.
