A disturbing incident of alleged child trafficking has surfaced in Sekondi, Western Region, involving a 35-year-old mother, Mena Efua, accused of selling her two-week-old infant for GHC300.
The community is shaken, and widespread condemnation has ensued.
Mena Efua’s sister, Maame Esi, who assisted during delivery, initially found the baby’s disappearance perplexing.
However, under interrogation, Mena Efua admitted handing the baby to an unnamed individual for GHC300.
In an interview, Maame Esi disclosed Mena Efua’s conflicting claims: initially stating a nurse would find a buyer and later claiming the baby was in Accra, refusing to reveal the location.
The Sekondi Police Station and DOVVSU are investigating.
The baby’s whereabouts remain unknown, sparking public outcry and calls for action.
