Axim, Western Region – A man identified as Joseph Richard has allegedly set fire to his girlfriend’s room at dawn, injuring her two children, after she ended their relationship. The incident occurred around 3 AM in Axim.
The children, 16-year-old Joseph Ben and 3-year-old Richlove Asiedua Yeboah, have been referred to Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital for treatment.
Eyewitnesses told reporters that Richard Joseph is suspected of deliberately setting the fire with the intent to kill the children.
The alleged arson is believed to be in retaliation for his girlfriend, Bettye Herman, breaking up with him after receiving threats from his mother.
Relatives of the injured children are appealing to the police and the public for help in apprehending the suspect.
