Justice Paul Baffoe-Bonnie of the Supreme Court has been appointed as the Acting Chief Justice following the suspension of Chief Justice Gertrude Sackey Torkornoo.
Appointed to the Supreme Court in June 2008 by former President John Agyekum Kufuor, Justice Baffoe-Bonnie is currently the most senior member of the court.
His appointment as Acting Chief Justice is in accordance with Article 144(6) of the 1992 Constitution, which mandates that the most senior Supreme Court Justice assumes the role whenever the Chief Justice is unable to perform their duties or the position becomes vacant.
