The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has appointed Coach Kassim Ocansey (Mingle) as the new Head Coach of the Black Meteors, Ghana’s national U-23 football team.
Coach Ocansey brings extensive coaching experience to the role, having previously managed top Ghanaian clubs such as Accra Great Olympics, Bechem United, and Nations FC, where he currently serves as Head Coach. Known as Kassim Mingle, he has also worked at various levels of Ghanaian football, including at the Academy, Colts, and second-tier levels, providing him with a deep understanding of talent development from an early age.
With a passion for nurturing young players, Ocansey is seen as the perfect choice to guide the Black Meteors as they aim to reclaim their former glory. The team, which made history as the first African nation to win an Olympic football medal at the 1992 Barcelona Olympics, is working to rebuild itself as a dominant force in world football.
In his playing days, Ocansey had a successful career, playing for several top-tier teams including Dumas Boys of GTP, GIHOC Stars, Sekondi Eleven Wise, and Accra Standfast over an eight-year period.
The Ghana Football Association is confident that Coach Ocansey’s expertise and leadership will be key to shaping a strong Black Meteors team capable of achieving success on the international stage.
