The Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) has pledged to ensure the safety of its community following the tragic death of Joana Deladem Yabani, a fourth-year Biological Sciences student.

Her lifeless body was discovered near the KNUST Disability and Rehabilitation Centre at around 5:00 a.m. on February 27, 2025, after KNUST Security Services were alerted.

Once confirmed, the university promptly transported her body to the University Health Services for further examination.

In a statement issued on February 27, KNUST management assured the university community that a thorough investigation is underway. The probe, in collaboration with the Criminal Investigations Department (CID), KNUST Internal Security, and University Health Services, aims to determine the circumstances surrounding her untimely death.

The university has notified the deceased’s family and urged students to remain calm, refrain from spreading unverified information, and respect the privacy of the grieving family during this challenging time.

KNUST management extended heartfelt condolences to the family and promised to provide updates as the investigation progresses.
