Kumasi, Ashanti Region, Ghana – Wednesday, April 30, 2025, 11:27 AM GMT – A student from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), associated with Unity Hall (Conti), is currently hospitalized after sustaining multiple stab wounds during an altercation at a New Patriotic Party (NPP) “Thank You” tour event in the Ashanti Region.
The incident occurred on Tuesday at the Bantama Pentecost Church, the venue for the NPP event.
The victim was a member of the Unity Hall Jama group, which had been contracted by the team of former Assin Central Member of Parliament, Kennedy Agyapong, to provide entertainment and enhance the event’s atmosphere.
Eyewitnesses report that a wealthy associate of Kennedy Agyapong, who was present at the event, provided funds to the Jama group. However, a group of heavily built men, reportedly armed with firearms and believed to be NPP members, intervened and forcibly seized the money.
This action triggered a confrontation between the Jama group and the armed men, during which gunshots were discharged. Amidst the chaos, the KNUST student was stabbed multiple times.
He was immediately transported to the emergency unit of the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, where he is currently receiving medical treatment.
Kennedy Agyapong and his team have filed an official complaint with the Kumasi Central Police Command regarding the incident. As of this report, no arrests have been made. Sources and related content
