Kofi Adams

Accra, Ghana – Kofi Adams, the nominee for Minister for Sports and Recreation, has emphasized the urgent need for diversifying income streams across various sports disciplines in Ghana.

During his parliamentary vetting, Adams highlighted the importance of a multi-pronged approach to sports funding, emphasizing that relying solely on traditional sources is no longer sustainable.

He stressed the need to explore new avenues for revenue generation, such as leveraging technology and attracting private sector investment.

Acknowledging previous parliamentary discussions on this issue, Adams noted that a previous committee had conducted research on potential income sources for sports but was unable to finalize its report before the dissolution of the 8th Parliament.

He expressed optimism that the 9th Parliament would revisit this crucial report and explore its recommendations.

“I think that is already being looked at. I remember in parliament issues were raised about this. The only unfortunate thing is that we couldn’t take the report of the committee that went into looking into areas of the sports before the 8th Parliament was terminated,” Adams stated.

He emphasized the importance of exploring innovative solutions, such as leveraging technology to enhance fan engagement and attract sponsorships.

This forward-thinking approach, Adams believes, is crucial for the long-term sustainability and growth of the Ghanaian sports sector.
