KBTH

The Korle Bu Teaching Hospital (KBTH) has announced the suspension of elective surgeries due to unforeseen circumstances. The decision was made after careful consideration and evaluation of the current situation.

According to KBTH, the ongoing issues with the lifts in the surgical block have significantly impacted their ability to perform surgeries. The lift issues have impeded the transfer of patients up and down the surgical tower, creating an unsafe environment for patients and staff.

As a result, KBTH has decided to suspend all elective surgeries until further notice to ensure patient safety. During this period, the hospital will focus solely on emergency cases to ensure critical care is not compromised.

Emergency surgeries will be carried out at alternative locations within the hospital, including the Ground Floor Surgical (Neuro), Accident Centre, Pediatric, and Gynaecology theatres. Patients undergoing emergency procedures will be admitted to specific wards, including Ward G, Ward N, Ward A, and Ward B, to ensure proper care and attention.

The hospital is working diligently to replace and refurbish the lifts as quickly as possible to minimize disruption and resume normal operations. KBTH apologizes for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciates the understanding and cooperation of patients, families, and staff during this time.
