Private legal practitioner Martin Kpebu is calling for Special Prosecutor Kissi Agyebeng to explain his handling of high-profile corruption cases, citing concerns over delays in prosecutions.

Kpebu argues that Agyebeng’s management style, particularly the pace of investigations, warrants scrutiny.

Kpebu’s comments come after the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) declared former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta a suspect in four major corruption cases, including the National Cathedral project and Strategic Mobilization Limited (SML) contracts.

Agyebeng has announced that Ofori-Atta is now a wanted person and must return immediately for questioning.

Kpebu insists that Agyebeng must account for his approach to case management, particularly the delays in addressing Ofori-Atta’s case.

He emphasizes that the Special Prosecutor’s management style must be seriously scrutinized, and that simply giving him support is not enough.

Kpebu has previously expressed concerns about the OSP’s effectiveness, citing the need for reforms to the OSP Act to address structural and operational challenges.

He has also highlighted the importance of transparency and accountability in the fight against corruption.
