Caoimhin Kelleher, Liverpool’s Republic of Ireland international goalkeeper, has expressed his desire to leave Anfield in pursuit of regular playing time. With the club’s recent move to sign Giorgi Mamardashvili from Valencia, Kelleher believes Liverpool has chosen to go “in a different direction.”
Despite making 26 appearances last season due to Alisson Becker’s injury, Kelleher is eager to establish himself as a number one goalkeeper. “I’ve made it clear that I want to play week in, week out,” he said.
“The club’s decision to sign another goalkeeper suggests they’re going in a different direction.”
Kelleher’s ambitions are evident, but he acknowledges that his future is not entirely in his hands.
“Sometimes it looks like the decision is mine, but it’s not always the case,” he added. “Liverpool has reportedly rejected bids from other Premier League clubs, but my goal is clear – I want to prove myself as a top goalkeeper.”
With Mamardashvili’s arrival imminent, Kelleher’s exit seems increasingly likely.
The 23-year-old Irishman is determined to find a new opportunity where he can shine as the number one choice.
