President John Dramani Mahama has reassured Ghanaians that the scaled-down 68th Independence Day celebration doesn’t diminish its significance.
Speaking at the Jubilee House, Mahama emphasized that Ghana’s independence is the most critical event in the nation’s history, marking its transition to nationhood.
Mahama acknowledged that the decision to scale down the celebration was due to the current economic challenges facing the nation.
However, he stressed that the event still holds great symbolic value, reminding Ghanaians of the sacrifices made by their forefathers and the enduring spirit of independence.
This year’s celebration is particularly significant, as it coincides with the theme “Reflect! Review! Reset!” which aims to reimagine governance, redefine development, and reset the nation’s trajectory towards a more inclusive and efficient system.
