President John Mahama

Former President directs Chief of Staff and power sector leaders to stabilize electricity supply amid fuel shortages.

John Abdulai Jinapor, former Deputy Minister for Energy and Member of Parliament for Yapei-Kusawgu, has announced that President John Dramani Mahama has called for an emergency meeting with key stakeholders in the energy sector to address the growing threat of power outages, commonly known as ‘dumsor.’

Scheduled for 10 a.m. today, the meeting will be chaired by the Chief of Staff and will involve representatives from various power generation companies. The aim is to formulate strategies to stabilize the electricity supply and prevent a return to the widespread power cuts that plagued the country in the past.

Jinapor emphasized that the urgency of the meeting stems from the previous administration’s failure to secure enough fuel for power generation, which has led to a looming energy crisis. “The lack of adequate fuel procurement has put the country in a precarious situation,” Jinapor said, highlighting the need for immediate action to avert a nationwide blackout.
